One of our Y members, Lori, shares in her own words why she asked for this group. Lori writes:

“I am a sole-custody parent to a 2-year-old girl and, as you can imagine, it comes with many challenges. I’ve searched for support groups and classes for single parents but haven’t found many. The few I have found are in the middle of the day during working hours. Some people may not have the flexibility to attend due to work. So I thought, why not start a group in the early evening hours for those of us who have to work around a daycare schedule?

“I thought the YMCA would be a great place because they have childcare. I met Erin Walter, the Community Engagement Director, at the Joys and Concerns Circle, and afterward I approached her about this idea. She was happy to assist.

“I am excited to meet with other single parents to discuss our issues and hopefully gain insight on being the best parent we can be for our children!”
