Types of Martial Arts Programs for Kids and Adults

Martial Arts: Martial arts are fighting skills that people practice for sport or for self-defense. Most of them developed in eastern Asia. The word martial comes from Mars, the ancient Roman god of war. However, most of the martial arts are not violent. Many followers of the religion of Buddhism use martial arts to help achieve spiritual awareness. Other people use martial arts to develop self-discipline. Martial arts require high levels of both physical and mental training.

Tae Kwon Do: Tae Kwon Do is a form of martial arts for kids and adults that teaches form, punches, kicks and, most importantly, discipline. Students in this martial arts class have the opportunity to advance belts while learning. Ideal for any age and skill level, women in martial arts classes find Tae Kwon Do to be challenging and achievable.

Tai Chi: Tai Chi is a graceful form of exercise used for stress reduction, balance, and strength with gentle, flowing movements. Adults looking for a martial art that centers body awareness will find a home in Tai Chi. If you’re starting martial arts as an adult, this is a great place to begin.

Ninja Gym: Ninja Gym is an obstacle martial arts course training that builds agility and physical strength through climbing, flips, rolls, jumps and kicks. Kids martial arts start at ninja gym!

“A lesson in martial arts is more than simply teaching someone how to throw a punch or subdue a threat. The real benefits are found in the heart, body, and mind. It’s the routine and structure provided from the class; and It’s the feeling of achievement, self-respect, and discipline gained from advancing belts.”
