We are living through unprecedented times, and we understand that you are uncertain about how to handle your YMCA of Austin membership.

Individuals and families have a responsibility to do what is best for them and their people. We have heard you, and we understand you. In the coming weeks, the need for services for our most vulnerable populations, such as children and seniors, will increase exponentially. We ask that you consider continuing your Y membership so we can ensure that we will remain here to serve those who need us most.

Naturally, we will cancel or put your membership on hold if you wish, but if you want to join us in service to others, please keep your membership active. If you do choose to cancel, we know that there will come a day when we will be able to welcome you back into one of our facilities. We are hopeful that this will be soon.

That’s why we are offering an easy option for anyone who would like to pause their membership fees for the time being. If your cancellation is in relation to the coronavirus public health situation, you can opt to place your account on hold. Please indicate your preference in the member cancellation form. If you place your membership on hold due to the current public health situation, you will not be charged. If you still choose to cancel, you will not be charged a joining fee when you return.

  • Go to www.austinymca.org/member-cancellation-form.
  • Scroll down to the form.
  • Fill out your information and select your home branch.
  • Click the drop-down menu titled “Reason for Termination”.
  • Select “Please place my membership on hold due to coronavirus/COVID-19”
  • Submit

During this unique period in time, we require at least 1-day notice prior to the draft date. Typically, we require a 10-day notice prior to the draft date.

Once you submit your cancellation, a representative at your branch will receive your request. You will receive a cancellation confirmation email once your home branch has set your account to terminate. You are responsible to ensure the cancellation has occurred.

We know this isn’t goodbye. We know that soon we will see this crisis pass. Classes will resume, friends will meet up again, and our gyms will be thriving once again. We want you to know that we will be there for you then, now and always.
