Nature will be our playground this summer at YMCA Camp Moody. Located along Onion creek on 85 acres of pristine wilderness, Camp Moody contains many features of the Edwards Plateau and is on the edge of the Balcones Escarpment.

This summer, day campers will explore the many features this landscape has to offer: limestone bluffs, spring-fed fishing holes and three miles of trails.  If your camper is ready to live on the wild side, Camp Moody is the place!

Campers’ days will be filled with hikes amongst elms, Mexican buckeyes and live oaks. Campers will learn the sport of archery, engage in a rich curriculum of outdoor education and crafts, enjoy character building team building and field games, and canoe along Onion Creek. This one-of-a-kind camp will offer your camper the opportunity to connect with nature and make new friends.

While Camp Moody is all about time in nature, campers will also spend time exploring their artistic side in our art studio.

We invite you to let adventure begin this summer at YMCA Camp Moody.

Important Camp Updates

July 2020 Updates

The Extend-A-Care YMCA is partnering with local school districts to provide families in our community with additional childcare options, including Extended Summer Camps and Virtual Learning Support programs. Updates will continue to be added to this page as more details become available. Please see below for Extended Summer Camps and Virtual Learning Support information.

June 2020 Camp Updates

Notice to Registered Families July 1st

The EAC Y is operating in accordance with the Centers of Disease Control’s Guidance for Child Care Programs that Remain Open, recommendations from the City of Austin and Austin Public Health (APH), and the Minimum Standards Health Protocols Check List for Child Care Centers released by Governor Abbott on May 18, 2020. Following these supplemental recommendations to the greatest extent possible will further minimize the risk of coronavirus transmission and help keep staff, children, and families safe.

It is strongly recommended by all entities that the children over the age of 2 wear face coverings; therefore, EAC Y programs will require all summer camp participants to wear masks while participating in indoor activities, as well as outdoor activities when social distancing is not possible. Staff work with all children to maintain comfort while enjoying daily activities, meeting new friends, and making fun memories.

Summer camp will be days filled with field sports, team games, and playground time. The summer camp programs will increase outdoor activities this year by using outdoor spaces such as blacktops, playgrounds, fields, and sidewalks to rotate activities. There will still be plenty of time for indoor activities which will include creative arts, dramatic play, social emotional learning, yoga, mindfulness, virtual field trips, reading time, STEM projects, and building blocks. Staff will always use their best judgement to determine if children should remove face coverings in situations where face coverings inhibit children from breathing freely while engaging in physical activities.
