The health and safety of our program participants and staff are paramount. In accordance with local, state and national directives the YMCA of Austin has implemented a series of safety guidelines for Afterschool:
- Small ratios are maintained per CDC recommendations. Ratios are currently 1:13
- Adherence to social distancing requirement of six (6) feet
- Facilities deep cleaned daily with hourly wipe downs
- Children and staff required to wear masks
YMCA Afterschool infuses all curriculum with TEKS concepts and objectives. Research shows that children in afterschool programs attend school more, see behavior improvements, increase their likelihood to advance to the next grade level and increases the likelihood of graduating.
Activities in YMCA Afterschool include:
- Book Nook / Reading Time
- Physical Activity
- Arts & Crafts
- STEM projects and games
- Social & Emotional learning activities
- Homework time
- Leadership activities
- and much more!
YMCA of Austin program and activities are designed to benefit persons of all backgrounds and means. Fees are based on the cost of program delivery. While participants are asked to pay in relation to their means, while financial assistance dollars are available, the YMCA will assist any individual or family that wants to participate in Afterschool Care programs.
REFUND POLICY REMINDER
With some districts possibly switching to virtual learning the week after Thanksgiving, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of our refund policy. Our Refund and Cancellation policy has been updated for the 20-21 school year to address challenges brought on by COVID-19. The changes help ensure sustainability of our programs and support for our staff during quarantine/closures.
Refund Policy:
Registration fees are non-refundable, non-transferable. Monthly fees that have been pro-rated are eligible for refund, upon request. If EAC Y does not receive a refund request within 30 days of cancellation, any unused credits will be transferred to the EAC Y Scholarship Fund. Refund and/or credits are NOT issued under the following circumstances:
- your child is absent,
- your child is suspended from school or EAC Y,
- if there is a unexpected school closure announced by your district,
- In the event of an unexpected school closure due to weather, an emergency or natural disaster, including temporary closures due to COVID (10 regular school/program days or less), tuition for that month will NOT be refunded or discounted,
- your child is required to sit-out of the program to quarantine.
If closures extend beyond 10 regular school/program days, your next month’s fee will be credited with a 25% discount. If during a closure, a family decides to de-enroll, please continue to follow our cancellation policy, as described below. Cancellation Policy: To cancel child care services and avoid additional charges, please submit your request using this online cancellation form, or you can also find it on our website at EACYMCA.org or under the forms section in your EZ Child Track account. We require a notice of 10 business days, prior to your child’s last day at EAC Y. Your cancellation will be made effective 10 business days after the date your notice is received. Cancellation effective dates will not be back-dated.

Afterschool Parent Testimonials
Our son is engaged and active, all while having a great time. This year is different than normal due to the abnormal circumstances related to COVID, but we’ve been really pleased.
Presidential Meadows Parent
My kids never want to leave! They love the counselors and enjoy the activities and help with homework provided by the Y. It is a safe and positive environment.
Lagos Elementary Parent
The Y is understanding and the prices are good, especially for a single parent with one income. I can never thank you enough!
Negley Elementary Parent
I appreciate all the help I get from this after school program: helping the kids with homework and engaging educational activities. My son loves going to YMCA after school, and to see and know that he loves going back makes me happy. Thank you for providing us some parents like myself that need financial support in order to me to make ends meet.
Blake Manor Elementary Parent
The kids have a wonderful time at YMCA Afterschool. They have time for kids to do their homework, play active games in the gym, and provide snacks. The staff is nice and great with kids. My kids don’t want to leave when I pick them up. The best part is that it is right at the kids school so they don’t have to take a bus. I highly recommend YMCA afterschool care.
Jollyville Elementary Parent
Hard working counselors that connect with the kids – always friendly, courteous and respectful.
Laurel Mountain Parent
My son loves YMCA! He never wants me to pick him up early. He comes home with all kinds of crafts every day and says everyone is nice to him. As a parent what more could you want :)
UT Elementary Parent
Your counselors are warm and very caring of our children, your programs are clear and executed in a very safe manner, and my child was consistently very happy in the program. He was devastated to have to leave!
Canyon Creek Parent
Program is convenient and affordable. Staff help kids get homework done and provide structured activities. Kids are respected, while also holding them accountable for their actions. Great program!
