Social Responsibility

We know that when we work together, we move individuals, families and communities forward. The Y responds to society’s most pressing needs by developing innovative, community-based solutions to help those in need to reach their full potential. We are also committed to inspiring a spirit of service by uniting individuals from all walks of life to participate in and work for positive social change.

It is through the support of our volunteers that the Y is able to give back to the community. Those involved with the Y have the opportunity to bring lasting personal and social change to others. Volunteer opportunities range from ongoing commitments to one-time special event support positions.

YMCA Youth and Government

Democracy must be learned by each generation. This statewide civic education and leadership program, allows middle and high school students to experience the excitement of our state government in action. Students choose to participate in one of four areas: legislative, judicial, media, or state affairs forum. Regularly scheduled club meetings prepare participants for competition at annual district and state conferences.

The Y is a community-based association of people committed to nurturing the potential of youth, promoting healthy lifestyles and fostering social responsibility to ensure that every individual has access to the essential resources needed to learn, grow and thrive. Anchored in more than 10,000 neighborhoods around the country, the Y has the long-standing relationships and geographic presence to not just promise, but to deliver lasting personal and social change.
