Youth and Government: 11/16 Volunteers Needed!

Texas Capitol
11/16/2019 - 8:00am

YMCA Youth & Government is a statewide civic engagement and leadership development program in which YMCAs, schools, and community organizations involve students in hands-on learning experiences.

Students form clubs at their schools or local Y facilities and participate in a mock state government. Clubs meet throughout the fall semester and then gather for the District Conference with teens and clubs from across the region.

This year's District Conference will be Saturday, November 16 at Hays High School (new location) (map), and we need your help as volunteers. More than 350 middle and high school students from Austin, Leander, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Waco will converge on Austin High for a full day of competition as judges, lawyers, legislators, advocates, and journalists. We need your assistance to ensure a smooth and high quality experience.
