Join the Y in October, and We'll Donate $25 to Archer's Challenge!

Exercise Your Heart in More Ways Than One!

When you join the Y, you’re committing to more than simply becoming healthier. You are supporting inclusion and accessibility for all. The Y works to ensure our programs and facilities are accessible and welcoming to all abilities. We turn to community partners like Archer’s Challenge to help us grow in these areas. For more than a workout. For a better us.

Join in October, and we'll donate $25 on your behalf to Archer's Challenge. Archer’s Challenge is a local organization that raises money and awareness to improve accessibility for disabled Central Texans. The primary method by which Archer’s Challenge achieves its mission is through a series of events that give able-bodied people a transformative experience by participating in everyday activities in a wheelchair.

What is the YMCA’s connection to Archer’s Challenge?

Our YMCA Mission says that we are “for all,” and we take this seriously. We’re committed to inclusion on all levels, and we wanted to make a financial commitment to ensure community spaces are accessible to everyone.

On Saturday, October 14, the TownLake YMCA is hosting the kickoff Archer’s Challenge event, one of a series of events around Austin that will take place throughout the week.

To celebrate our partnership, the Y is donating $25 from each new member Joining Fee in the month of October to support Archer’s Challenge.

At the TownLake Y event, challengers will be able to participate in several in-chair team and solo activities and enjoy outdoor music, food and fun from 8 a.m. to noon.

Activities at the TownLake Y include participating in a wheelchair weights class, a solo workout using accessible and adaptive equipment, using the pool facilities through a series of transfers, and a 3.25-mile relay roll around the Town Lake trail (the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake).
