AOA Garden

The Hays YMCA was given a grant in 2016 from the St. David’s Foundation Group called Health’s Angels to get our senior garden started. The foundation promotes healthy living for seniors, and gave us funds and educational classes to help us start and maintain our garden. The YMCA, Health’s Angels  and in partnership with Resolutions Gardens in Austin, prepared the site this spring. We named our garden club The Y’s Ones. We had our grand opening on May 16, 2017, and planted tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, peppers, basil, mint and many other herbs. Since then, we have been watering and harvesting some good produce, and have a Facebook page to share our recipes.  As a garden club we will be attending educational, working,  and informative meetings throughout the year. We also have an online calendar to facilitate watering duties. The Health’s Angels will follow us and help with planting through harvest and beyond.
