What is American Sign Language?

American Sign Language is a way of communicating by moving the hands in combination with facial expressions and postures of the body. This is the primary language used by those who are hard of hearing or deaf.


In this six week course, participants will learn: the alphabet, numbers 1-9, common phrases, grammar, the history of sign language, deaf education and more!

Learning a new language is fun and educational at any age - let the Bastrop YMCA get you started!

ASL for Children ages 5-12 Level 2: Tuesdays starting November 7th, 2017 through December 12th from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

ASL for Adults ages 13 and up: Tuesdays starting November 7th, 2017 through December 12th from 5:45 PM - 6:45 PM
