Advocate for Accessibility: Archer's Challenge

Our YMCA Mission says that we are “for all,” and we take this seriously. We’re committed to inclusion on all levels, and we want to ensure community spaces are accessible to everyone.

Archer’s Challenge is a local organization that raises money and awareness to improve accessibility for Central Texans with different abilities. The primary method by which Archer’s Challenge achieves its mission is through a series of events that give able-bodied people a transformative experience by participating in everyday activities in a wheelchair. You can particpate in the 2018 Archer's Challenge by joining Archer and his team at the Downtown Austin Challenge on Friday, October 19th.

The Challenge begins at 12 p.m. at Republic Square Park in Downtown Austin. Participants will be fitted for manual wheelchairs and will then roll away to spend their day in the 2nd Street District with fun stops along the way including a photo opportunity at the Paramount Theater marquee. Participants will head back to Republic Square Park by 4 p.m. where Archer will be hosting an After Party from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Please stick around, enjoy some food, beverages, live music, a games and meet Austin Mayor Steve Adler. The After Party is open to the non-participants, so bring your BFFs and celebrate.
