What's Happening In October at the Y

Thank You For Making A Difference

The YMCA community always stands at the ready to listen, adapt and respond to local needs. This commitment to service was made clear during the month of September when nearly 200 refugees arrived in the Austin area.

YMCA members responded overwhelmingly to the call to donate toiletries to Refugee Services of Texas. Because of your generosity, Y staff were able to deliver contributions to our new neighbors in need.

When you belong to the Y, you’re part of more than just a gym. You’re helping to ensure that our community remains strong and resilient.

Thank you for being here for good.

More Ways to Get Involved

The City of Austin Mayor’s Fitness Council recognized the YMCA of Austin with a “Moving the Needle” award on Friday, September 17.

The award recognizes the Y’s community engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic, including offering virtual services, making calls to isolated seniors, distributing food to families in need and providing childcare to essential workers.

If you’re looking for opportunities to give back this month, sign up to donate blood at one of our mobile drives this month, or volunteer to distribute produce with Brighter Bites!

Here’s what’s happening at the YMCA in October

Les Mills New Choreography Launches October 11-16

Did you know that people who attend group exercise classes twice or more per week are more likely to achieve their fitness goals? It’s called the group effect, and people who work out in a group enjoy built-in accountability and the feeling that comes with accomplishing something together with others.

The Y offers a robust selection of high-quality group exercise classes with your membership! If you’re unsure where to start, make a free fitness orientation appointment or stop by the fitness floor and chat with one of our new trainers.
