Committed to People, Powered by Compassion

April is Autism Appreciation Month, an opportunity to celebrate the diverse perspectives of autistic people. This month, the Y invites you to learn about the ways this neurobehavioral diagnosis affects people and their families in varied and nuanced ways.

YMCA Director Lisa Y. spoke with her 14-year-old son about his experiences navigating a world that has been set up for neurotypical people. On the blog, Lisa and her son discuss ways neurotypical people can make a more inclusive world for neurodivergent people.
