Stories That Connect Us

When you’re a member at the Y, you’re part of a close-knit community. 

Staff member Amy H. shares her experience with the Y over the past year. It has shown her that as a community, we are stronger together. There is a lot of love, fun, joy, and passion in every person who walks through our doors. “This is the most amazing community I have ever been part of,” Amy says.

As we begin returning to former routines and seeing each other again, it’s an opportunity to deepen our relationships like never before. To invite our friends to join us on this journey to always be Here For Good.

As we kick off our 2021 Annual Giving Campaign, we’ll be going live on Facebook at 5:30pm on Tuesday, April 6th to officially kick-off the campaign! Hear from fellow members and beloved staff of the Y community share their stories and experiences. Don’t miss it!

Here’s what’s happening at TownLake YMCA this month

YMCA of Austin Mask Policy

The statewide mask mandate was suspended in mid-march. However, in keeping with Austin Public Health and CDC guidelines, as a private organization the YMCA of Austin continues to require masks at all times. Beginning April 1, exceptions are made for those who have a medical condition or a disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering. Masks are required at all times during basketball with mixed households and in the strength center downstairs due to inability to guarantee distance. Child Watch Update

Beginning April 1, Child Watch will observe new hours.

  • Monday - Wednesday 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Thursday - Friday CLOSED
  • Saturday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Changes to the Group Exercise Schedule

  • RPM Tuesdays at 12:15 PM is now at 12:30 PM

Opportunities to Give Back

The YMCA of Austin is partnering with two local organizations to meet our community’s needs this spring. 

Brighter Bites is distributing boxes of fresh produce to families and individuals, and they need volunteers to direct traffic and distribute boxes. Find details on our Events page, and sign up to help give food to folks in need.

We Are Blood is hosting a series of mobile blood drives in YMCA parking lots. Dates, times, and location details are on our Events page. Sign up to donate, and remember to eat a full meal before your appointment.

Les Mills New Release Launches!

New Les Mills routines drop this month! We’ll launch the latest releases April 12-17. Check the schedule and get in on the fun with these scientifically proven, challenging routines. 


Refer a Friend, Get a Free Month

Invite a friend to join you for your favorite workout this month. If your friend decides to join the Y, we’ll waive their fee to join! And if they remain a member for at least three months, we’ll give YOU a month of membership for FREE! There’s no limit to how many friends you can refer. Spread the word, and help us to become a community that is 50,000 Strong!

April Check-In Challenge

You really ran with the check-in challenges we held in late-2020, so we’re dusting off the old leaderboard and challenging you to check into your YMCA at least 10 times this month.

When you do, you’ll be entered to win a prize! Two members will receive YMCA ball caps, and one grand prize winner will receive a free month of YMCA membership!

Fitness Options for Everyone

One of the best things about the YMCA is all the fitness options that are available to people of all ages and abilities. We’re here to help you meet your fitness goals.

Did you know that as a member, you have access to a free session with a personal trainer to introduce you to our equipment and to assess your physical fitness? You may decide that a more personalized approach is best for you with a series of custom sessions with a personal trainer.  Individual and partner sessions available.

We’re introducing our Kick Start Program for members who could use a nudge getting back into a workout routine after the year we’ve just had! Meet with a trainer and get pointed in the right direction with a personalized, 12-week program to help you meet your goals. Monthly check-ins keep you on track. Sign up today!

If you prefer the accountability partnership that comes with group training, but also want the personalized attention of a personal trainer, try one of our small group trainings! We offer Women with Weights, Outdoor Boot Camp and Zero to 10K Training. Build strength and confidence in a small group setting with one of these classes.

Swimmers and triathletes can get a jump start on training with our masters swim courses and adult swim lessons to perfect your stroke and improve your technique. And if you love the energy of a group workout and want to take it easy on your joints, Aqua Yoga is here to bring the balance!

We also offer outdoor versions of many of your favorite classes. Check the schedule for outdoor group exercise, and soak up the sunshine while you work out!

Youth Programs

Kiddos who are ready for a summer adventure but don’t need a full day of care can take part in our mini camps all summer long. Activities include gym, sports, arts and crafts, and interactive fun with friends. Mini-camps start in June.

Or learn a new skill with our hip-hop dance classes and youth boxing program! Monthly enrollment keeps kids engaged year-round.

Swim lessons are open for registration now. Saturday lessons return to the schedule in June. Teach kids the importance of safety around water, and instill a lifelong love of the water with swim lessons.

Kids who are ready to compete can join our Swim Team program and be part of an encouraging group while improving their skills.

Do you have a childcare plan this summer? Extend-A-Care YMCA offers a wide range of summer camp options for kids from infants through age 13, from theme camps to adventure camps and sports camps. Try one or choose a variety, and rest assured that your child is enjoying the summer they deserve!

Afterschool care for the 2021-2022 school year opens for registration April 6. Make a plan to register now and guarantee your spot in Extend-A-Care’s engaging afterschool program.

There are many benefits to taking part in Extend-A-Care YMCA. Families enrolled in EAC Y programs enjoy a special membership rate with the YMCA. Employees of partner school districts receive 20% off their monthly membership dues. And when you refer a friend for our afterschool program, you’ll receive a $30 referral credit.

There are lots of places to work, but few opportunities to do work that really matters. At the Y, not only do you have the chance to help children, youth, and adults reach their potential, you’ll also make an impact in your community.
