Hello Team,

My name is Juan Ybarra and look forward to meeting you all soon. I’ve been with the YMCA for almost six years here in El Paso TX. Throughout the years I’ve learned a lot at the Y but there’s always room for growth. I’m very excited to join the TownLake YMCA Aquatics team to learn more and work together to build a great Aquatics Program.

I started at the Y as a part time lifeguard when I was a junior at Austin High School. Within a few months of working at the Y I realized I belonged. Therefore I got more involved and obtained other aquatic certifications. I became a swim instructor and have taught many different classes and worked with all age groups. During this time I made the decision to change my major from criminal justice to Public Administration to build a career at the Y.

Upon building my career at the YMCA I mainly focused in the Aquatics department. I believe the work we do is not just immensely important but it makes such a big impact. I’ve dedicated myself to educate the public about water safety and to respect the water. I am also a YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer, and Certified Pool Operator.

I am prepared to continue in helping save lives every day. I am very excited to get to know everyone and do great things together.
