This past weekend, we celebrated 70 years of programming with more than 1,000 high students from all across Texas who convened in Austin for the Texas Youth and Government State Conference. Students competed and learned as judges, lawyers, legislators, advocates, and journalists.
The mission of the Texas Youth and Government (YG) program is to help teenagers become responsible citizens and future leaders of our nation. With staff and volunteer support, the YG program is an environment in which students can increase their political awareness and understanding while learning the meaning of social action through an actual hands-on experience in government.
Students in the media section of the conference captured images, stories, and videos. Follow us on our social networks to see the conference highlights and read stories written by future journalists. Click our links below to get full access!

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. As the leading nonprofit committed to helping everyone thrive at each stage of life, we are uniquely positioned to take on new and long-standing challenges more comprehensively than anyone else.
Your support through the YMCA of Austin’s Annual Giving Campaign makes this possible.
