Community Healing in a Time of Tragedy

Community

We are devastated by the horrific and hateful violence that has taken place across our country over the last two weeks, including our own backyard in Uvalde, Texas. Our hearts go out to the victims, families, and our entire community. We join the YMCA of Greater San Antonio and YMCA of the USA in our commitment to providing support and inspiring positive action, and we stand in solidarity with our partners to stop gun violence and address mental health issues.

If you are looking for ways to support Uvalde victims, blood donations for the wounded are encouraged. Blood donations are being accepted across the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center’s five Centers in San Antonio, New Braunfels, Boerne and Victoria. To make an appointment at any center, call 210-731-5590 or visit https://biobridgeglobal.org/community/our-thoughts-right-now-are-with-the-community-of-uvalde/

We encourage everyone to act in love towards one another through this difficult time. We are stronger together. If you are in need of immediate help or community resources, call 211 or visit https://www.211texas.org/.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. As the leading nonprofit committed to helping everyone thrive at each stage of life, we are uniquely positioned to take on new and long-standing challenges more comprehensively than anyone else.

Your support through the YMCA of Austin’s Annual Giving Campaign makes this possible.
