Greetings! My name is Tyler Wagner, and, starting this February, I’ve taken on the role as the Community Engagement intern for the Y! I’m excited to have the opportunity to meet so many people from so many walks of life and learn along the way.

Today was Napoleon “Napo” Griffin’s first day working as a Program Director in the Program Services branch of the YMCA of Austin. This department, located on Red River Street, oversees Y camps, afterschool programs, and more.

A warm YMCA welcome to our newest personal trainer, Paula "Coach K" Korzeniewski! You may have seen Coach K around Y this summer, when she was interning at the TownLake branch. We are excited to officially welcome her to the team!
“Coach K” has coached soccer and cross country at both the club and varsity level.

Congratulations to the staff and members of the TownLake YMCA, named 2018 "Best of the Best of Austin" in the Fitness Center/Gym category in the Austin American-Statesman on Sunday, Sept. 30. Check it out if you still have a Sunday paper!

YMCA staff members love to celebrate as members strive for, meet, and even exceed their goals. Recently we heard from Personal Trainer Tony Vargas, who wanted to give a shout out to his training client Kathleen. Here's what Tony has to say:

"What if every obstacle in your life was part of the process to be successful?

We had a fun surprise in the TownLake lobby today. New YMCA lifeguard Jake Larson looked up at a painting near the coffee and snacks and realized, "That's my grandpa!"

The oil painting's inscription reads, "Iron Dave Larson - From the Y Guys." Dave has been a Y member for decades, along with his wife, Eve, Jake's grandmother. Eva Larson is, in fact, the artist who painted the portrait.

Dear YMCA members and friends,

Happy back-to-school time! We hope you had a wonderful summer. It means so much to our TownLake team to share the seasons of life with you.

During the summers, the YMCA is especially bustling with interns and volunteers, all of whom make a unique and important impact on our community. We are pleased to introduce Devante Lucas, one of this summer’s interns at the TownLake branch.

Members and staff, have you checked out the TownLake SMASH board lately? This is the board in the lobby where we leave colorful post-it notes with compliments about Super Member All-Star Highlights.
