Today, older adults are more health conscious than ever before. That is why; the YMCA offers water exercise, yoga, walking clubs stretching and toning classes, volunteer opportunities, and social events. Our Senior programs are designed for men and women in their 50s and older and promote fitness and well-being while fostering friendships and camaraderie. Our volunteer opportunities and social events help build lasting relationships and community ties that last a lifetime.

At the YMCA we've made the health and fitness of our seniors a top priority by providing programs for the spirit, mind and body. Through group exercise classes and aquatic programs that concentrate on mobility and flexibility, dance classes, social events, and volunteer activities, the YMCA is bringing Seniors together for camaraderie, fellowship and fun. Most Seniors programs are free for Y members.
Taking care of your loved one is a role unlike any other, learn how to be an effective caregiver at the YMCA.
Open to persons with early- to mid-stage Alzheimer’s and dementia, this once-a-week respite program is currently offered by the TownLake YMCA. Geared toward relatively active individuals, the YMCA Senior Retreat enables participants to enjoy aquatic fitness, dancing, crafts, restorative yoga, spinning, strengthening and stretching and more. Music is also incorporated into every “retreat” as well, be it a musical guest or just an informal sing-a-long.
All classes are taught by Y fitness staff, and informal activities are run by community volunteers. The TownLake Senior Retreat meets every Friday from 11am-2pm. The fee is $10 per Friday, which includes lunch. YMCA membership is not required. During this time the caregivers will be able to run errands, exercise, meet with other caregivers, etc.

Come on in, the water's fine! Adults looking to challenge themselves without stress on their joints or members who just enjoy the water can take advantage of our different water exercise classes. Instructors lead small groups through water aerobics, core strengthening and much more. Gain muscle conditioning and cardiovascular endurance from the aeorobic choreography and the resistance of the water. Ideal for all fitness levels & non-swimmers. Water Exercise classes are FREE for Y members!
