Ian Manzak

How long at Y: 3 Years

Favorite thing about working with Y:  I get to serve others in the community, help out children of different skills, and age progress to a healthy lifestyle.  Not only that but the Y has given my life direction and I’ve found a passion for what I do.  I feel as if I never work because I feel a great satisfaction with what I do here

Greatest Accomplishment: I’ve stood up several times for children who have trouble in behavior, and would otherwise have been removed from camp or a program.  Instead, I’ve worked with them and tried to help them resolve their issues – I gave them a chance most wouldn’t.  Giving that child a chance may be all he/she needs

Motto: “To give anything less than your BEST is to sacrifice the gift.” – Steve Prefontaine, USA long distance runner

Favorite Austin Activity/Hot Spot: Anything and anywhere I can enjoy my time with my friends.  If I had to pick somewhere it would be on the river or anything outdoors.  I can be content just sitting with a friend watching TV simply because I can enjoy my time with them

Favorite Movie:  I’m going to have to say ‘Blow’ and ‘The Last Samuai’.  Movies are another passion of mine, I have very many that I love.

Cats or Dogs: Both, I get along with any animal to be honest.  All my friends had dogs that I loved and my parents always had cats, so I was in both worlds and enjoy either company
