Yoga & Pilates
Stretch. Breathe. Focus. Feel better. Millions of people do yoga because they love what it does for the mind, body, and spirit.
An exercise discipline that dates back to ancient India, yoga involves moving the body through a series of positions and stretches, while focusing on breathing or specific thoughts. The practice delivers unique and vital benefits which include increased energy levels, lower blood pressure, improved memory, better balance and sense of calm. Yoga & Pilates classes are FREE for Y members!
Yoga & Pilates Classes include:
Fundamentals of Yoga/Pilates: A journey into the fundamentals of yoga and Pilates. Wonderful for beginners, or for those looking for a basic, yet challenging mind and body workout.
Ashtanga Yoga: This class is a flow practice linking together postures that focus on building strength and stamina, simultaneously building muscle and increasing flexibility.
Yoga for Energy: Combines asana, breathing, and flow sequences to refresh the body and to promote mental clarity.
Core Yoga: This class focuses on uses yoga to strengthen, lengthen and tighten the core muscles in the body. Learn to challenge yourself with target asanas including standing poses, twists, and balancing among others.
Hatha Yoga: This class focuses on combining breathe and movement during traditional sun salutations. While increasing strength and flexibility you will build your practice by advancing through modifications by your instructor.
Restorative Yoga: A luxurious yoga practice with movements that are slow, gentle, repetitive and rocking to create a class that is deeply nourishing.
Runners Yoga: Yoga to improve runner's form, power, and flexibility to decrease risk of injuries.
Teen Yoga: Teens will discover the benefits and fun of yoga. They will learn proper breathing, technique and form.
Kid Yoga: Kids will have fun while learning the basics of yoga including breathing, form and technique.
Mommy & Me Yoga: Designed for mom and babies of 12 months and younger to participate in together, bond with one another through poses, massage and breathing. A relaxing and rejuvenating experience for both mom and baby!
Prenatal Yoga: This class is designed for pregnant participants or those just starting back after baby and is designed to help you relax your mind, strengthen your muscles, bond with your baby and prepare for childbirth.
Family Yoga: Fun for the whole family! All ages and abilities welcome.
Holy Yoga: Holy Yoga is a form of Hatha yoga that increases physical, mental, and emotional well being through time of worship, praise & connection to Christ that is practiced to contemporary Christian music.
Power Yoga: A rigorous workout that develops strength, flexibility, and helps create a lean, total body while keeping students on the move. It combines a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout. Power yoga is directed at creating the highest level of energy, vitality and freedom.
Gentle Flow: A relaxing yoga class with focus on alignment and breath. Gentle stretching and breathing will help you enhance your awareness of your body and create healthy patterns for reducing stress and body aches.
Yoga Workshop: Join us for one, or both hours. Class will be taught by our very own Yoga instructor, Alli Akard. Flyer is up in the branch!
Never Despair Back Care: Class geared toward older adults and seniors: Unburden your back & your entire being with tried and true exercises for stretching, strengthening and relaxing you back and your body. Prevention is the best cure. Check it out; even if your back isn?t giving you trouble.
Ashtanga Fusion: Comparable to Power Yoga, this class is a flow practice linking together postures that focus on building strength and stamina, simultaneously building muscle and increasing flexibility.
Yoga/Pilates Fusion: This class focuses on strengthening and lengthening the body with an emphasis on the core muscle groups. Various equipment may be used (such as light weights, bands and rings). Relaxation stretches and balance work are also incorporated. An all over body workout leaving you feeling energized and rejuvenated!
Mat Pilates: A core conditioning program that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength, and tone.
Abilates: Pilates with a twist. This class incorporates basic pilates moves with some innovative core work. All levels welcome.
